In loving memory

Logan passed away tonight. He was having neurological issues and they finally escalated to the point where he was in a lot of pain and I had to do the only humane thing I know how to do. This blog was named for him and will continue to live on in his memory as a tribute to him.

  5. Aw, Josh, I'm so sorry.

You did the right thing. I know it doesn't make it any easier, but you must know it was the only choice you could make.

It's really a bitch isn't it? I mean they come into our lives, they need us so desperately and before you know it, they take over our hearts. It's like day by day they own us more and more, and then one day you have to say goodbye.

There is something so genuine about the love of a dog.

I had to do the same thing last year with Thurber, and while I can honestly say that I miss him with all my heart and soul to this day, I know that he is better off now.

Take care (and much peace and strength to you),

    Tengrain

  13. Had a spate of young cats from a surprise! litter succumb to distemper . . . I ended up being the shovelmeister in a bad Shakespearean tragedy.
    Each death was difficult.
Learning to say "goodbye" to loved ones is I think the most elementary and yet possibly the hardest assignment for all of us, the one none of us can pretend we know.

I trust you're a better student than I've been so far ... My condolences to you.

  26. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss.

There are no words to adequately express the grief of losing a beloved dog companion.

We lost our 16 year old Golden Retriever, Brenda, in 2005 and I still can't discuss it. We keep Brenda's ashes in a beautiful, hand-made wooden box, resting among treasured photos of family and friends.

I hope one day you find comfort and peace.

  27. Such a sad loss. I'm very sorry. I had to put down a pet a few months ago, and it's always hard but always humane. I hope that you can take comfort in the fact that you will notice a lot less suffering around your house. That's what helped me with my decision.
