My 100th post

Let me introduce you to my inspiration... no that is not quite right, my muse...no still not right, the reason I blog... nope, hmmmmmm..... how about the dog who wakes me up in the morning... yeah that is about right. You think waking up to your spouse's morning breath is bad try waking up to doggie morning breath it is worse, trust me. And try to sleep when he is alternately sighing on you and whimpering. He wakes me up at 7, well it used to be 5:30 or 6:00, but I had to put my foot down and make him sleep till seven. And guess what he doesn't care if it is Saturday or Sunday, he still wants to go outside at 7. He doesn't care if I am sick or well, he still wants to go outside at 7. I know of you are saying, but I have kids and they are just as bad. Ok, so that may be true except you can tell the children to go in another room and watch TV or whatever. Also after a certain age your children become potty trained and you can expect them to be able to use a toilet and flush their waste, thus you become not as involved in their bathroom habits, yeah not so much with a dog. You have to walk behind them and clean up all of their little presents and for a bigger dog, the presents aren't so little.

But I would not give up my dog for anything, he is always there to greet me when I get home. He is happy to see me no matter what and he never complains about, well... anything. He loves to go for walks and wants to play sometimes, but is happy sleeping all day as well. He doesn't cost me that much in terms of food and I don't have to cloth him or send him to school or college. Overall, he is awesome. He also listens to me when I talk to him, he doesn't understand a word I am saying, humans do have him there, but when I need to just spout off he will sit and look at me and listen. Also, it has been shown that petting an animal reduces stress. I got him from an animal shelter where he was obviously well taken care of by previous owners, he was overweight. Now he has lost 35 pounds and has the energy of a puppy and he is 7 years old. So here he is, Logan.

And remember to spay and neuter your pets.

I hear ya ... I have three, and one insists on waking up at 6:30 am, another starts jumping at 7 am, and the baby will cuddle with me as long as I want. I can be up until 2 or 3 am, and they still want to get up at 6:30 am, 7 days a week. But as with you, I wouldn't trade them for the world.

Hi Logan! What a cutie! What would we do without our animal companions?

Right now I am in my downstate house with Mr. BooBoo the kitty giving blog inspiration and love. In the upstate house of Mr. He Is is Skittles the crazy Jack Russell Terrorist.

How we will get these two together once we finally consolidate houses will be a challenge, but we are optimistic.

And yes- make sure pets are spayed and neutered. And give good pets a home via adoption!

The unconditional love of a doggie is one of the under-sung joys of living.

I miss my dog Charlie, who was my dear friend for twelve years and who I had to put down this winter.

Boy, was that hard. I've seen hard, but that took the cake.

Love 'em if ya got 'em.

I have long maintained that living with a dog is living with a perpetual 2-year old. What fun.

I also maintain that if you want to be a better person, the first step is to get a dog. Dogs bring out the best in people. Just ask Thurber J. Wolf.

(I'm convinced that he would rule the world if he had opposable thumbs...)

Great post, Boxer!
