Fuck the Republicans

I am shamelessly stealing this from Shakesville. The Texas Republicans have been redistricting in an effort to disenfranchise key Democratic constituencies. So what did the students of Prairie View A&M do when their local polling station was placed 7 miles from the school? They marched to the polling place and brought a highway to a standstill. I will repeat that, they fucking marched down the middle of a fucking highway and stopped traffic. They were doing their civic duty and voting and when people tried to screw them out of this, they said fuck you and took over a local highway. And the Republicans are scared that the Democrats might win this election, I say "hell yeah they will win." And people say that this generation is lazy and apathetic toward politics, I say "do people who are apathetic march seven miles to vote? Hell no." So fuck you Texas Republicans!

That is so cool!

I'm impressed - my 80s generation either loved Reagan or despised him silently, but no one ever shut down a freeway to protest.

(Though I do remember a lot of applause when the old bastard was shot.)

I am so glad to see someone still has a John Edwards 08 banner up.

Try being surrounded by these fuckers on a daily basis.

I work with them everyday. I am the only liberal in my entire office. An office, I should add, that employees many people whose economic interest are most decidedly not being taken care of on the red side of the aisle. And believe me, most of them think it is a good thing Praire View student don't have access to a voting booth.

When this story came up lasr week, there was more than one comment around my office about it being a good time to mow them all down at the same time.

Welcome to Red America, it's worse than you think. Way worse.

Yeah, Fuck them!!

It's going to take all of us doing this exact same very thing. I hope we rise to the occasion.
